Bull Island Brewing Company, located in Hampton, VA, is the passion project of Doug, a former high school English teacher and custom home builder. Doug’s journey into brewing began in Poquoson, VA, affectionately known as "Bull Island," where he started experimenting with small-batch brewing and sharing his creations with friends and neighbors. Their rave reviews fueled his ambition, and after two years of meticulous planning, Doug turned his dream into reality. In October 2016, Bull Island Brewing Company opened its doors, quickly becoming a standout destination for craft beer enthusiasts. Known for its dedication to quality and innovation, the brewery offers a unique selection of craft beers that reflect Doug’s creativity and commitment to excellence.

​Meet Scott, the talented brewer at Bull Island Brewing Company. Like many brewers, Scott’s journey began with a passion for homebrewing. Over the years, his hobby grew into a career when he took a position at the local shop where he had been purchasing ingredients. Scott eventually co-founded Brass Cannon Brewery in Williamsburg, VA, alongside two friends. At Brass Cannon, he created a wide array of flavorful brews, including his signature creation, the Angry Scott. After more than a decade of honing his skills at Brass Cannon, Scott brought his wealth of experience back to his hometown of Hampton. In October 2023, he joined Bull Island Brewing Company, where he continues to brew the beloved house recipes while introducing exciting new beers with his own creative twist.
